What is a CSA?

A CSA, (Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for the food buying public to create a relationship with a farm and to receive a weekly basket of produce. By making a financial commitment to a farm, people become "members" (or "shareholders," or "subscribers") of the CSA. Venetucci Farm requires that members pay for the season up-front. Your share can be picked up at one of two sites: CO Farm and Art Market - America the Beautiful Park Wednesdays 3:00 - 7:00 or Saturdays 11:00 -2:00 at the Venetucci Farm.

How does a CSA work?

With a preseason payment, you purchase a “share” of the season’s harvest from Venetucci Farm. As a shareholder you receive a weekly box of our fresh, seasonal produce during the 20 week season from mid June to mid October, which can be picked up at one of two sites.

Shared Commitment

When you sign up for our CSA, you commit yourself to being aVenetucci customer for the growing season, providing a secure market and helping cover production costs. In exchange, we will do our best to provide you with fresh, nutritious food that travels a short distance to your table. Both your money and food stay local.

Shared Risk
We will strive to bring you a beautiful and bountiful share of the harvest each week. Because we work with Mother Nature, we cannot offer absolute guarantees. As a shareholder, you share in the bounty as well as the risks inherent to farming.

How do we Grow our Veggies?

While we can’t control the weather, we can control what we put in our soil and on our crops. We recognize the damaging effects chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides have on the ecosystems above and below the soil surface and we choose not to use them. “Soil in good heart” is at the root of healthy plants, healthy
food, healthy people, and a healthy planet. We employ farming practices that restore and enhance the health of the soil, including minimal till, cover crops, composting, diverse and rotational cropping, careful seed selection, and integration of farm animals to help build the soil.

Know your Farmer, Know your Food
With so many different food labels out there, it’s hard to know what to believe. The best way to know your food is to know your farmer, so we invite you to come visit the farm and see how your food is grown. Also, shareholders will receive a bi-monthly newsletter with messages from the farmer, updates on what’s in season, information about volunteer opportunities, classes, or special events on the farm, as well as recipes to help you in the kitchen.

Get Connected

One of the greatest benefits of becoming a Venetucci CSA member is the opportunity to re-connect with your food and with the land. We encourage you to take advantage of the many volunteer opportunities we offer. CSA’s are about building relationship with the land, with the farmer, and with one another. Become a part of the process!
